Hey! I was inspired to finally start by your Grow Getters and Contrarian Thinking posts on newsletters. My topic builds on data collected from a ton of customer interviews this summer. The goal is to connect travelers with "travel mentors". Check it out at the link below and let me know what you think! Currently trying to grow my subscriber base and put together the first few posts before I start sending.

Awesome! Really appreciate that. I travel the same way, and pretty excited to share some tips from these awesome mentors I've connected with. Hoping to get the ball rolling soon, my first posts are currently in the works.

Checking in a few days later! I'm up to 64 subscribers after sending messages out to friends/family and posting on LinkedIn and Facebook. Because this newsletter will feature a new travel mentor in each post, I expect that they will share the post with their audience. I hope this turns into a bit of a flywheel effect due to the mentors bringing in new subscribers each week as they share my newsletter with their following.

Hi! I'm a developer and I started a newsletter called Women Who Side Hustle which is about my adventure of taking on 5 side hustles as a mother of 3. My side hustles are a mix of tech and business. Is this a viable niche? Is it better if it's not about me? How can I improve on the topic?

If anyone interested, check it out! https://www.womenwhosidehustle.com/

Hi Codie, Ilona, Olman:

I get stumped thinking that I will run out of ideas to cover in a specific topic. Then I start thinking that I should do two projects side-by-side. Would love your input and any ideas on how to find one's own slant to the newsletter to not get lost in the spam folder in 2 weeks.

Would love your help making the first step!

Thank you!

Nataliya

Definitely start with one. More focused to begin the better. Think niche niche niche

For instance say you want to write a food blog... First of all how could you do it unconventionally. Thug kitchen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar7g_26QWu0, does it with cuss words and snark, nom nom paleo plays to paleo and leverages her asian heritage https://www.youtube.com/user/nomnompaleo, I've found (and struggle with this myself) the more you can niche down the more you will grow. Best way I've found to do this is post and see where the engagement is then keep doing more of that. Try to not play it safe. Take risks.

Hey Grow Getters Team - where have you all been?

Just came across your stuff a couple of days ago and it's like I had an epiphany! A newsletter...duh 🙄

Anyway, instead of depressing over the time lost with other ventures ( which could be another newsletter all on its own..., but who would want to read about that?), I've been carefully planning and strategizing 🤫so I can be off to the races and hit it hard!

Thank you so much for putting this out there for us contrarians at heart (ok, even non-contrarians too!)

So, before I go any further, would you please give me your thoughts on my niche-niche-niche idea 💡:

"I write for Stay-at-Home Moms with young kids, who want to keep being Stay-at-Home Moms, and I give them the motivation and tools to make the best of their journey."

Whatchu think 🤔💭?

Thanks for your time and talk to you soon!

Hi!

I live on an island with a population of 165,000 people. I am thinking of starting a newsletter targeting young/aspiring business professionals - general business concept explainers, local business news, career advice, etc. basically just trying to help them get ahead in the workplace. Is my niche too small?

Hey there --- well the beautiful thing about a newsletter it's not tied to a geography. Altho I think your overall topic could be niched down.

Hi Codie, Ilona & Olman-

First of all, thank you so much for sharing this information. It's awesome.

Here's where I'm stuck (at the very beginner stage).

I'm a law student and a content writer doing everything remotely.

But I want to dip into something I'm passionate about instead of having to research and write about other companies' desired topics.

I want to write about what I love and share it with others who have the same passion.

Here's what I love: Travel, people, cultural immersion, language exchange, international cuisine, and more.

How can I narrow it down?! I don't want to be just another travel blogger. That doesn't excite me. I want to be able to put my own twist on it and I have no idea where to start.

I have my own Facebook group with 640 members (they're all students and alumni from my international university and they're from all over the world). Its purpose is to hold onto the diverse network of students and alumni so that they can give each other the best tips for traveling in their countries.

I'd love your assistance to take my next step. It would mean the world to me!

Thanks,

Adam :)

Yup still too broad. Try writing out what you write about in one sentence (not a list). Ie. - I write about how to think critically and profit unconventionally.

Think about your skill stack. Where do your unique skills mix to create something uniquely you.
